There are some business issues as well!

We need your support!

Al and Angela win prestigious awards
The Federation of Canadian Archers (FCA) recently awarded Angela Cramer the 1998 Female Athlete of the Year!
Congratulations Angela! This is a big award!
Al Wills has been awarded the prestigious DM Lovo Award for Outstanding contribution to Archery in Canada by the FCA. Congratulations Al! We're proud to have such a celebrity in our club!
For more info regarding these awards, see: http://www.fca.ca/awards.html .
Angela goes to mexico
Angela Cramer will be travelling to Mexico City for one of the final Olympic Qualifiers for Sydney 2000. At the last meeting, it was decided by vote to assist Angela. The members present thought that it was the club's purpose to support shooters who came up through JOP and moved into the world standings.
The club will be supporting Angela financially as she travels to Mexico City in October (19-24). We are proud to have Angela represent our club at these events!
SAFETY AT THE LOWER RANGE
There have been a couple incidences of arrows that were shot over the targets on the FITA range. There is a house on the left side of the range, behind target numbers 1-4. The offending arrows have landed in their yard.
We are working on a more permanent solution, but until we find one we must ask that compound bows not be shot at targets 1-5. Compound bow shooters are asked to use the targets on the right side of the field (6-18).
Also, remember that aiming your arrow above the target (especially when drawing!) is not only extremely unsafe, it is also against international rules.
Please abide by this new rule so that we will not be at risk of losing the DND property lease. If you have any questions, please contact Al or Vesa.
The Club's Sister
Did you know that we have a sister archery club'? Through the reciprocal sister city agreements between Japan and Canada, Victoria has a sister city in Japan called Morioka. We have been visited by their club twice and members of our club have visited them in Morioka once. The Japanese lanterns in the club house are gifts from these wonderful people.
Jason Halayko from our club will be going to school in Japan in September, he will be bringing a gift of fresh BC smoked salmon to our friends on our behalf.

3D Shoot
We held a 3D shoot on April 11th. The shoot went well with approx. 60 people attending. We were helped by great weather, and fun was had by all. We would like to thank some of our new sponsors that helped us with prizes for this shoot. Muzzy donated some can coolers and Buckmasters donated 6 subscriptions to their magazines. Thanks, folks!
