December 2005 Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all from your Board of Directors, the following is the news arising from our meeting December 19th.
Membership Renewals:
It is
definitely now time! If you haven't renewed by January 3, you will not be
insured and therefore not allowed on the Victoria Bowmen Property (indoor or
out). We ask that you renew as soon as you can, if you have any questions
please contact Shirley Wong, our membership secretary at:
membership@victoriabowmen.com 727-0556 or Al at:
secretary@victoriabowmen.com.
Indoor
Butts:
We are
continuing to work on the problems we are having with the indoor butts where
arrows from light bows bounce out and from heavy bows won't come out! We
have some different rectangular blue butts that we will be using for short
distance/beginner shooting and we are advising all compound archers to
ensure you lube your arrows before shooting. You can use any lubricant like
WD-40, if you forget to bring some, ask anyone there to use some of theirs.
Salmon
Fundraiser:
We still have a
number of packages (special Victoria Bowmen packages) of smoked Salmon
available for you to purchase to assist the club's programs, please contact
Gail at:
pr@victoriabowmen.com or 478-7374. These make excellent gifts as each
package is ready for mailing, just put on a stamp and an address.
JOP:
We are still
looking for a new JOP Director, if you wish to help, please contact the
President, Greg Birtwistle at
president@victoriabowmen.com or call him at: 592-1950. In the interim we
ask that all adults come out (especially on Saturdays) to lend a hand, even
if you can just be there for a short period, it all helps!
Part
time archery work available:
We are looking
for someone to assist the instruction of archery at the Saanich Commonwealth
Pool, this is a paid position at a rate of over $15/hour. Please contact the
secretary@victoriabowmen.com 474-4909.
Coaching Clinic:
We will be
conducting a basic archery instructor's course on January 17 & 19 at 7:30PM
at John Stubbs School, to give those of you interested in helping out at JOP
some of the tools you need. Nothing required, just show up. We will be
hosting a registered Teaching Beginning Archery course in the new year.
Inventory:
It is again
time to update our inventory of all club equipment, if you have anything
belonging to the club, please ensure it gets into one of the containers. For
further information contact Bruce Somers
vp@victoriabowmen.com 478-9951.
