Victoria Bowmen Newsletter September, 2006

Hello, here is the latest Victoria Bowmen news as of our Board meeting September 11th.

Club AGM:

Please mark your calendars - The club’s Annual General Meeting will be held at the clubhouse on September 25th at 1930 (7:30 PM), please come out and support your club. We are in need of volunteers to help us out; in particular we need a new Membership Director and Secretary. If you are interested in any of these positions or any others, please contact Bruce Somers at 478-9951. Job descriptions are found on the website under the constitution and bylaws http://www.victoriabowmen.com/clubinfo/const.htm . You should come out and find out how your club works, this meeting is for the members to find out who makes the decisions and how the infrastructure works. You are invited to ask any questions or make suggestions etc.

Upcoming Tournaments

The next tournament at the club is the club championships on September 16th, this is a 900/3D depending on what you want to shoot. There will also be a BBQ lunch and an archery garage sale (bring along what ever you have that you don’t need anymore). If you are interested contact Tracy at: tournaments@victoriabowmen.com

Damage to Butts

Remember that only target or field points are to be shot at the butts, and if you have any kind of point come off in a butt, PLEASE let someone know. Arrows can cost upwards of $40, so please have consideration of the next person that will shoot that butt! Broadheads may ONLY be shot in the broadhead pit.

Membership Cards

Please be sure that your membership card is visible when ever you are on the range, this ensures that we can easily verify that everyone shooting is insured.

New JOP Plaques

The sashes are no more; the BC Archery Association is replacing the JOP award sashes with a wall mounted plate that will display all the levels. You can find more information and a picture at: http://www.archeryassociation.bc.ca/jop_program.htm#JOP%20Plaque%20program

JOP indoor shooting starts October 14th at John Stubbs School in Belmont Park, please sign up for one of the two – two hour shooting times (9 AM – 11 AM or 11AM to 1PM) at the Club Championships or contact Mary Wills at marywills@shaw.ca

Lessons starting soon:

Lessons at the Commonwealth Pool begin September 21st and club lessons begin October 3rd. for more information check out the new lessons tab on the website.

The website has recently been updated; the webmaster would appreciate any feedback or suggestions webmaster@victoriabowmen.com .

Salmon Fundraiser

We still have some packages of smoked salmon in Victoria Bowmen packages, they make a great gift and the packages can be used for mailing by just adding address and postage.

Berm work party:

You may have noticed our new Berm behind the 900 range, please come out on September 30th to assist in getting it ready for planting and more friendly to arrows by removing any rocks!

Please make every effort to come out to the Annual General Meeting, it is your club, we need your input! Hope to see you there!
