Victoria Bowmen/J.O.P. Newsletter December 2007

Social Get-Together and Funshoot

On Saturday December 1st there will be a barbeque and Christmas Funshoot at John Stubbs School during regular J.O.P. practice time (10:00 a.m. on).  All are invited to come and socialize, shoot, and eat.  The funshoot will be a novelty Christmas-themed shoot with great prizes – participation in the funshoot is for a suggested donation of $3 to $5.  Contact Sonya Bell (727-9735) for further information on the barbeque, and Bradley Clements (896-0132) or Allison Weick (383-6550) for further information on the funshoot.  Please come out and talke to your fellow archers and let us know what you need! See you there!

Weekly Practices

J.O.P. practice is held at John Stubbs Elementary School from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays.  Please try to come on time and remain for the duration of the time so that you may make the most of the practice and help take down.  Club practice is at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays.  Field and 3D practice begins around 7:00 a.m. on Saturdays.  The outdoor range is open all year around for personal practice and all of the above practices are open to everyone.

Move from John Stubbs School

The present John Stubbs School is to be demolished in early January, which will mean that we will be shooting elsewhere in the New Year. We are looking at the possibility of moving to Sangster school, however this is not confirmed. Please watch the website for an official announcement. Our last day shooting at John Stubbs is the 8th of December and we hope to be in the new facility on the 8th of January.

Indoor Butt and Net set up and take down Set up and take down is the responsibility of everyone, you put your personal equipment together after the butts and net are set up and take your equipment apart after the butts and net are  put away.  You should be participating in the set up and take down, not engaged in any other activity. This is a quick, painless process if we all pitch in!

J.O.P. Mail Match

This tournament runs from October to February – you can shot at your own club at any practice time and give your scorecard to Mary Wills to be sent in.  This is an indoor 300 round – shot at 18 metres on a 40 cm target, The tournament is for anyone from the level of Master Archer up.

Club Fundraiser

Christmas cards from Silent Sound Publishing are available for $5.75 each or $45.50 for ten, of which 65% goes to the club.  They are available for purchase at J.O.P. practice, or you can order them by contacting Bradley Clements (896-0132) with your mailing address and payment.  Thank you for supporting the club!
