Victoria Bowmen Newsletter June 2009
Date: June 18, 2009

Hello,

Here is some news as of our latest Board Meeting June 15

Greg Durward
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of an active club member, Greg Durward after a battle with cancer. Greg will be missed by everyone in the archery community, his contribution, to our club, the BCAA and FCA was significant. Greg was active in archery right up until he was admitted to hospital.
Please join us to shoot a few arrows and mark his passing at a special Greg Durward tournament/BBQ/Wake day at the club on June 27th. There will be a FITA/900 round starting at 1000 and then a BBQ and wake around 1630 – 1700. We hope you can make it. Greg’s son Jon has posted a website in Greg’s memory, you can access it at: http://durward.com/greg/
The club has made a contribution to the Lady Minto foundation in Greg’s name, you are encouraged to do the same. http://www.ladymintofoundation.com/#/memorial-gift-donation-form/4533666841

Update on the Property
As you know the navy has given the club notice to vacate the lands we now occupy by October 31st, 2009. Your Board of Directors is working hard on a new place to shoot; we hope to have an announcement for you by the end of July.

End of Spring Work Party July 16th, 2009:
There is a lot of ‘clean up’ and maintenance work to be done at the range, we would appreciate a good turn out (‘Many hands make light work’). Bring along rakes, gloves, hammers, trimmers etc.

Grass
The grass is growing like crazy, our ‘Forrest Gumps’ are tasked, we could use a few new mower riders, to volunteer, please call at at: 474-4909 or info@victoriabowmen.com

Summer Fun Shoot
Our Junior members are holding a funshoot at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 11th. ALL members and visitors are welcome. Suggested donation of $5 - $15 per person, proceeds go towards Canada World Youth to support Bradley's Ontario/Tanzania environmental volunteer aid exchange. Will be lot's of fun!

Wear Your Membership Card
Don't forget to show your membership card to the commissionaires when entering the property and wear it prominently on your person while shooting. It shows you’re insured and allowed on the property.

Junior Olympic Program
Our Junior Program is going well outdoors (Saturdays at 10) ~ come out and support the group!

Our next Board Meeting is July 13th at the clubhouse.
Should you have any questions concerning the club, check out our website: http://victoriabowmen.com ~ call any of the Board members for clarification.

Have a great spring - see you on the range!
