Victoria Bowmen Newsletter November 2009 Hello Victoria Bowmen Members, The latest archery news as of our last Board Meeting November 9: A sad day for archery in Victoria passed this past Saturday with the moving of the final bits of equipment from our archery range that we had used since 1965. A true tragedy! Thank you to those of you who made yourselves available for the moving and work parties this fall! I wish that we could have seen more of you, but to those that did come out, our appreciation! A special thank you to Greg Birtwistle, who has supervised the final move and been available for the various inspections by DND. Facilities: We have been following up on many leads over the past few months, we are hoping that we have found a facility that fits our needs. You are invited to come out and view a possible outdoor shooting range at the Luxton Fairgrounds 1040 Marwood Avenue (off Sooke Road in Langford) this coming Saturday November 14th at 1:30PM. Your feedback to the Board would be appreciated. Greg Durward The Victoria Bowmen has made a contribution to the Canadian Archery Foundation in Greg’s memory Membership Dues: Your Board has decided not to reduce the membership fees for 2010, it is our feeling that no matter what facility we find, it will not be free, so we will need revenue to pay rent. You will be receiving a renewal notice soon, please renew quickly. Remember the indoor facility is open Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings, it is open to all members. Victoria Bowmen Equipment All the club’s equipment is now stored in our containers. The indoor equipment is at Sangster school and the 2 40’ containers are at a storage facility in Metchosin. Next Board Meeting Remember, you can still get your ‘archery fix’ at our indoor facility, John Stubbs School, Saturdays from 10AM to 1 PM and Tuesday evenings from 8PM to 10PM. Check the club website for directions and announcements of closures.
